Get Set Up

Whether you’re launching a new law practice, starting a business, or starting your own blog or podcast, here are some resources to help get you started.

Set up your website with Bluehost

I use Bluehost as my web host and I like them a lot.  They’re reliable, responsive, and super affordable. Just click on the image and you’re on your way!

Business Growth

We’ve compiled a list of resources we use to help grow our businesses and law practices.

Schedule appointments/meetings better – Calendly

I’ve been using Calendly for almost 3 years now. It has cut down on the back-and-forth of setting up all of my podcasting interviews. It’s easy to use and it integrates with your calendars so all you have to do is create some rules (setting your availability boundaries) and send a link to your intended person. Then they can see your availability and pick a date/time of their choosing. Simple!

Never miss another (potential) client call – Abby Connect

Missed calls are missed opportunities! If you worry about missing potential client phone calls or you want to free up more time in your business this year, then be sure to check out our show sponsor, Abby Connect, the leading live receptionist service.  Get your 2-week free trial and $95 off your first month at http://abbyconnect.com/genwhy

Tools, Research, and Forms/Templates – LexisNexis

LexisNexis® legal solutions can help you expand your capabilities, work more efficiently and deliver better results for your clients. If you’re looking to access thousands of cases, resources, legal forms and templates that have been compiled by hundreds of the profession’s brightest lawyers, then give them a look. LexisNexis Practice Advisor.

Business Development and Networking

Where do we turn to for networking? How do we build better relationships? These are some of the resources we rely on.

LegalMinds Mastermind group by Mitch Jackson

If you’re looking for a group of lawyers and professionals to help hold you accountable, generate ideas, provide camaraderie, and assist in your business growth, then you’ll want to check out this wonderful mastermind group that both Karima and I are involved in. It’s led by award-winning attorney, Mitch Jackson (who also happens to be the nicest guy out there!). Check it out or reach out if you want the lowdown on this group.

Stay Connected with Others

It’s all about the relationships! Below are some tools to help you maintain stronger relationships and simplify connections.

Send your connections a video email – BombBomb

I LOVE this service. I’ve been using BombBomb to send video emails to people I meet at networking events and conferences. I also really like sending emails to contacts and friends that I’ve lost touch with. They love seeing my face in the emails instead of just text. BombBomb allows you to record a video (either on your desktop computer or the app on your phone) and send it as an email. Recording your message and showing your face in a video makes your message so much more powerful.

Send regular newsletters – Mailchimp

I use Mailchimp to send all of my email newsletters. They’re easy to use and free if you’re just starting off. Of course as your email list grows, you can upgrade to a paid package.

Personal Growth and Development

We’re meant to continually learn and grow. Feed your mind, body, and soul with the following recommended resources.

Read all the free books that you want – Hoopla Digital

I discovered an resource called Hoopla. It’s an app that connects to your local library and allows you to download and rent books and ebooks for free, if they’re available. It’s like going to the local library except you don’t have to leave your house! Check it out.

Starting a Podcast?

You’ll need a microphone

Here’s what I started off with and still use to this day. It’s a great mic at an affordable price. It’s the ATR-2100

Media Host – Libsyn

You’ll need a media host to hold all of your media files since hosting them directly on your site is definitely not recommended. It will certainly slow your website down. Libsyn is a wonderful media host. They’re affordable (with plans started at $5/mo), helpful when you have questions, and make the entire process of uploading and posting an episode simple.

Editing platform – Audacity

This is a free platform for recording and editing your podcasts. It’s fairly easy to use. I learned how to edit my podcasts using Audacity and if I can pick it up, so can you!

Do you have a favorite app, website, product, or service you can’t live without? Please share it! I’d love to add it to this list. Reach out.
