How Volunteering Will Pay You Back Tenfold with Mandy Woodland [GWL 22]

This week, I had the pleasure of chatting with Mandy Woodland, a business lawyer from Canada. Mandy is a former scientist and medical researcher who decided to go to law school to escape her job as a molecular biologist. Now, she runs her own practice where she works with tech start-ups and businesses, helping them form and protect their companies.  Mandy is just as involved in the tech industry as she is in the legal industry. She is one badass woman in tech who’s helping pave the way for other women in both professions.

What We Cover In This Episode:

  • Using your unique background to help launch you into solo practice
  • How not to be miserable doing what you’re doing everyday
  • Things to be mindful of when setting up your law firm website
  • How to remain legally compliant when collecting business cards for your email list
  • What’s up with the status of women in tech?
  • How can we set more young girls up for future STEM-related jobs
  • Community volunteer work is the best thing you can do as a lawyer
